this kid can seriously pack away food! we "allowed" him to order a foot long hot dog at The Dawg House in caddy--with the intention that josh would finish it up for him. NOPE that child ate the ENTIRE thing--bun and all. it is not just a footlong........ it is a FOOT LONG fat hotdog! go lukers go! he even got a FREE hat from the folks who own it b/c they were impressed that a five year old polished it away :)

rad reader

our boy jack is a rad reader! we are so stinkin' proud of him. at the end of the school year, not only did he win an award for the most ar points for 2nd grade, but he had WAY more than any 2nd grader EVER had. he ended up with 344! this was only 20 less than the 3rd highest in the ENTIRE SCHOOL!

now it is june 28th (happy birthday josh) and jack has already read 5 percy jackson books this summer! that child is a reading machine!

eye doc!

oh jack-o! it's about time we got great news with your eyes.............

we started your journey back when you were born ALMOST 8 years ago. the day you came out, you had goopy eyes and it was not from the ointment the doc put on them. he's struggled with blocked tear ducts (resulting in four surgeries), and wandering eyes (including patching, patching, patching). jack's had glasses since he was 2.5. with the help of the glasses, his eyes have done amazingly well but we've had to watch them closely. in the past we've taken him to the eye doc every 3-5 months to get 1. tear ducts examined 2. eye rx check and 3. to make sure his eyes are working together and staying straight.

at the appt on wednesday, doctor piippo gave us the news that jack does not need to come back for a FULL YEAR unless something comes up that concerns us!!!! this is HUGE!!!!!! i am glad we've been diligent with having jack wear his glasses at all times, patching when needed, having his surgeries done, etc. A YEAR! a year! a year!

what a week.....of doctors!

last thursday i puked. EEEEWWWWWWWWWW. twice during the night. friday i woke up with a nasty cough and a small fever. that lasted a few days and i finally took myself to the doc on tuesday. in the meantime, i took jack to the doc monday where we found that he had a double ear infection. monday i also had a sleep doctor appt. so back to tuesday. doc heard a "heavy" breathing of sorts and what he considered "pre-pnuemonia" so he gave me a 2nd inhaler to use. wednesday jack had an eye appt in grandville......... luke started sounding crummy tuesday so we took him in thursday and he had pneumonia. then today (friday) jack started running a fever................

so i love skating. most of you probably know that :) it's in my blood to say the least.

i was supposed to go skating with this group of gals.....

but long story short, we simply did not make it. instead i went with my friend chana banana and her friend jill.

 just a few action shots of indoor soccer i played over the winter at cedar rock sports plex! i started in october with NO experience ever! i played outdoor for a few years but that was over about the time i turned 8 :D i am now playing with these gals in the outdoor summer women's league!
