**warning......graphic.....**
i am making progress.
so i know in haste i wrote up the blog post last night (or was it today) where i sounded a bit whiny--about all the nasty puke in our house. now now that i am feeling better, let me share my progress.
i knew the flu was flying around jack's school (grapevine moves fast) but i did not worry about it. thursday night when jack woke up throwing up, i did not freak out. i was so proud of me. not only did i clean jack up, clean the floor up, clean the bed up, i also laid down next to him the rest of the night and held the bowl when he was sick again. i also helped him in the morning when he needed to use the bathroom and could not get there in time. i also then drove myself to work after only a few hours of sleep.... had to since i am about out of sick time :(
josh was an amazing dad and stayed home with both boys--figured it was easier to stay home with both rather than sending luke off to grandma's house.
even with all the puke thursday night, i really hadn't worried too much. he seemed fine and i was not too anxious about anyone else getting it. i figured if it spread, it spread. i took jack to the gas station friday to grab some gas and bug juice. well that did not bode well for us when jack threw up all over the parking lot..... again, i stayed calm, got him a water and some kleenex....and a 7 up :) we drove the two miles home and he was find the rest of the night.
i still felt calm.
saturday turned into more puke..... i threw up...and up and up and up and up. luke then threw up and up and up and up and up. i was pretty ill even the rest of the night while luke recovered pretty well. i was super tired today--and slept 7 hours. during this entire time, i was not anxious. and now that i am sitting in bed feeling better (wide awake of course since it is 9:36 pm and I SLEPT ALL DAY) and have time to think through the past 4 days, I realize that i have stayed calm! i have not been anxious. there was a few hours on saturday where i was a bit nervous because luke said his tummy hurt and i knew he had drank after me in the morning but i would classify it more as a nervous feeling versus an anxious feeling.
i am making progress. :) so there stupid puke phobia!

quickly! :(
the stomach flu is quickly racing through the family!!! :(
11:30 pm Thursday night...jack threw up and i cleaned it up. he was sick for a few hours straight then friday he got the poops :( friday night he threw up again before bed.
saturday i felt yucky all day and around 2:30 threw up :( then at 6:00 pm luke threw up. we both have the other end too :(
oh come on stomach bug, leave josh alone! he is caring for us so well and deserves no PUKE!

may there always be.....
twice in the past two weeks i have heard:
once at jack's mother's day tea for first grade and once this morning at luke's "preschool graduation".
as a part of the preschool graduation, each of the four year olds draw a picture and finish the "may there always be...". Our little friend nicholas said "may there always be transformers". another child said "may there always be my baby brother" . our friend jacquelyn said, "may there always be t-rexes and long necks (dinosaurs)". some hoped for ice cream, blue skies, sunshine and princesses. others hoped for monster trucks, friends, and video games.
well three years ago, jack's said "may there always be numbers" and he drew numbers.
today, luke's said "may there always be numbers" and he drew some numbers.............
we must be teaching these boys right :) math and reading can open up the world boys! count on! read on!
may there always be a mama's love :)
- May there always be sunshine,
- May there always be blue skies,
- May there always be mother,
- May there always be me :)

weekend in a nutshell
we had a busy weekend--luke's symptoms were funky again thursday so we decided it was best for luke and daddy to stay home to hang out and "rest up". jack and i headed north and met up with aunt lynda at grandma and grandpa's house :)
friday: lynda and i attended gala at our friends' jewelry store :) the three sisters now own it and we have not seen all three of them since we were JUST KIDS (probably teens at best)--thanks goodness for facebook to reconnect.
saturday: a great day in cadillac to raise awareness for autism--firefighters/first responders/etc tom janik memorial games :) great day. wish the turnout was better but it was the first time for this event. saturday night lynda and i went skating with a bunch of folks who used to work for our parents in the 70s and 80s at the roller rink :) FUN FUN FUN!
sunday: mass with my family. huge pirate party for luke (oh five!!). super hot and humid. :) pics of that to come later!

"good waster of time" :)
let me begin with the quote i heard from luke as i tucked him into bed at 10:45 tonight, "thanks mom for helping me be a good waster of time tonight" :) so even after the child had been sick all day, been out and about for over 6.5 hours, even after having a super sore bottom, the kiddo still had a smile on his face for me. that is a good boy.
luke's last dose of his "vanco" for the c-diff was saturday. he did so well on the med--got his color back, energy was in abundance and he was back to eating all the time. fast forward to this morning (wednesday)--he woke us up around 5:00 with extreme tummy cramps and having to go "#2". Poor buddy! By the time I left at 6:40, he had gone again and was not feeling well at all. By the time I got home at 3:30ish, he had gone a total of 5 or 6 times, had a fever of 102 and awful cramps :( oh luke. after a call to the nurse (again), we decided to just take him into the children's ER. we arrived around 4ish. (small side note--amazing flowers were delivered from my bff vick to cheer me up after my crying jaunt on the way to school this morning over the phone)
waiting room empty so we got right in...plus those magic words, "ummm yeah my kid's got c diff" kind of gets you in IMMEDIATELY and into a room with its own bathroom. poor buddy was in so much pain when we got there....a wheel chair ride and then a visit in the bathroom again. sigh. ER doc didn't know too much for us but did call a infectious disease control doc and got us on a new course of action--all within an hour!!! thank heavens for a plan. they will send in a sample to confirm c-diff but really i have no doubts that is what it is again. idc doc is suggesting we continue with the "vanco" for 7 weeks--starting with four times a day for a while, then three, then two, and one and finally every other day. if this does not kick the crap out of the c diff, then we go see him. oh i so hope and pray it does!
unfortunately, the med they put him back on has to be made for luke--it is not a kid med and it takes a few hours to "create"....and our small town pharm does not have the med so i had to stay in gr to get it created................. so i dropped it off, wandered around walgreens, got us some dinner, and headed to meijer (plus a few bathroom stops along the way....and i made sure we were careful not to leave germs :(......and when i showed back up to walgreens at 9 pm only to find it would be another hour, i burst into tears. oh my mama, get it together! luke from the back sweetly piped up, what's wrong mama? josh gently reminded me when i called him with the news that this was an adventure for luke--time with mama is exciting especially late at night. and since luke had to go again, what else would we do except go back across the street to meijer :) potty stop and then 30+ minutes of fish watching! and what fun we did have watching the fish, discussing the various types, what the "codes" meant on the fish tanks (egg layer, live birth, schools, aggressive, etc). and the med was ready just as we finished our 2nd shopping trip of the evening. on the way home, another stop was needed (seriously sorry to all citizens out there who use bathrooms.....we were careful, i promise but the boy had to go) and this time, his bottom started to hurt so bad......... so got home, desitin onto his bottom (and immediate relief) and that is when he rolled over and so sweetly and so gently smiled at me.
he was such a trooper today and enjoyed our "wasting of time"--it really was an adventure for him. i wish i had not let the stress of it all get to me and i just had been able to be present in the moment. having my little one so darn sick makes me feel so helpless.
lessons for today:
-it is okay to cry and let down my emotions
-great friends are amazing
-it is good to ask for help and others to pray/think good thoughts for me and my family
-luke's great attitude is the one to have--life is an adventure. live it.
